What is Reflexology
Reflexology is the study of reflexes.
Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from this study based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that map to other parts, glands, and organs of the body.

Reflexology has ancient roots, with evidence of its practice found in China, India, and Egypt over 5,000 years ago1. In ancient China, it was part of traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on stimulating specific points to restore balance and harmony in the body(1). Similarly, in India, reflexology was integrated into Ayurvedic medicine, promoting overall well-being through pressure techniques(1). The practice also appeared in ancient Egypt, as depicted in hieroglyphics from around 2500 BCE(2). Reflexology evolved significantly in the early 20th century when Dr. William H. Fitzgerald developed “zone therapy,” which laid the foundation for modern reflexology by mapping the body into zones and applying pressure to corresponding areas on the feet and hands(3,4)
What techniques are used during my reflexology treatment?
The body has the ability to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of “imbalance” and vital body systems can be blocked, preventing the body from functioning optimally. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural balance and facilitate healing. For each person, the application and the effect of the therapy are unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances and by working on these points, the Reflexology Therapist can release these blockages. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology therapy can: relieve tension, improve circulation, support the body's efforts to function optimally.
Reflexology is one of the safest and least invasive complementary therapeutic practices available.
What to expect during my reflexology treatment?
If you have never received a session, it will begin with a brief health history and an explanation on how Reflexology works and what happens during a session. You will then be placed in a relaxing and comfortable position on massage table. You will never be asked to undress for Reflexology!
